First season · The register
DispatchesNotes from the lodge. Not a blog.
Five letters into the season. Worn, visited, lived — the corner we asked for, and a chair kept empty on purpose. We will not write every week. When we do, it will be because the fire was worth describing.
The unhurried morning after
How the lodge follows you home — coffee, quiet, and no one asking what time the lifts open.
A table by the window
What we look for when we scout a room: the lounge first, the view second, the mountain last.
Dressed for arrival
Clothes cut for the fireside rather than the slope. Quiet cloth. No technical excuse.
We asked for the corner
Refuse the center table. Corners, booths, and seats that face the fire tell you if a house understands lingering.
The empty chair
October, before the season. A negroni measured by eye, a record chosen early, and a chair kept empty on purpose.
