Borrowed from the house
First season · October 2026
Every good house keeps a rail by the door.
Ours holds what nobody packed. A cream cable knit gone soft at the cuffs. A camel coat that has warmed more shoulders than we can count. Scarves folded on the shelf above, and below, the boots that came in cold, standing where boots belong.
You are welcome to borrow. It is the oldest luxury a lodge can offer — not a boutique off the lobby, but a sweater handed over without ceremony, the sleeves a little long, the wool still carrying the faint smoke of every evening it has seen, until somewhere around the second round you forget it was ever anyone else's.
We do not label the rail. Nothing on it is for sale.
Return it in the morning. Or don't, and come back next season wearing it.
